Natalia from Bloemenmeisjes, whose imagination triggered this Magic, is here with all the details…. “Our stylish strike with a touch of classic chic Charm was inspired by Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. SWAN Lake is a romantic story about a beautiful enchanted Princess who appears as a white swan by day and a princess by night. And like most fairy tales about princesses, only true love can break this spell.
This sad and at the same time beautiful story of a white swan came to life in the forest of Gelderland in the Netherlands. I really like this part of the Netherlands, it has a national park and some of the most breathtaking places. When I approached the Groot Warnsborn property, the beautiful place for this editorial, they really loved the concept and the idea. The winter weather offered us a few hours of sunshine, which we fortunately captured in the photos. While the environment, the February forest, with its dark and gray colors, gave the images a dramatic aspect.
We have thought about every detail of this editorial; from the choice of the place to the silverware, the decoration of the table and the floral motif. Soft watercolors, pink and Sapphire with a touch Of gold were our perfect color palette. The Floral Design can be described as a Chic garden with a classic touch. The combination of roses, Protea and eucalyptus gave the table and dessert table a fresh and natural look. For the sweet table, we opted for a wedding cake with sugar flowers and a cake with real flowers which worked very well. The colors of the floral arrangements and the cakes matched perfectly.”
You know what I mean? Beautiful! Oh, and you definitely need to take a Moment to watch the gorgeous video captured by State of Dreaming that accompanies it – it’s only about a Minute long, but really tells the story in a way that gives goosebumps!…..
Aren’t wedding dresses wonderful? I was lucky that the designer Laura van Rooij explained both to me….. “Creating the wedding dresses for this editorial was quite a challenge. I decided that for this we needed two dresses – one for the Swan Lake scene and one for the wedding ceremony. The initial wedding dress was inspired by a ballet dress. It was made from tulle, handmade silk flowers and sequins. The second down is a royal dress, more delicate and chic. The lower back of the second dress is carved in the curve of a swan’s wing and its bodice is sewn from precious Japanese Mikado silk. The skirt has been made of a delicate fabric heavily decorated with ivory flowers.”
Thank you hardly seems appropriate for the time and effort that must have gone into bringing such a creative Vision of beauty to life. All the wonderful suppliers involved (which you will find below) really did the most wonderful job in remaking such a classic.
